The Q1 2021 series will include an episode focused on the growing influence of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) within the tax efficient marketplace.
Whether referred to by clients as ESG, Sustainable, or Impact investing, this is a growing area of interest for clients, and increasingly one that is dictating investment decisions. We examine and clarify the terminology, the latest developments in the market, including current available ESG products in EIS VCT and Business Relief, and discuss how advisers can confidently offer ESG options in the tax efficient and alternative space.
The panel will be consist of industry experts who are focused on ESG, Impact investing, sustainability and environmental experts.
ESG, Sustainable & Impact investing have now come into the mainstream and are quickly becoming a major element in investors' investment choices. This momentum is carrying through to the tax efficient marketplace, and there are some newcomers and new offerings arriving to sit alongside the more established fund managers focused in this space.

Panellists
Lawrence Gosling is the host of the GrowthInvest Adviser Hour and the Editorial Director of Bonhill Group. He was previously the Group Editorial Director of Incisive Media and the founding editor of Investment Week.
Lawrence was also the launch editor of IFAonline, Mortgage Solutions, Cover and Bloomberg Money magazines, and one of the original judges for the Gold Standards. In 1994 he worked at Reuters, and prior to that he spent five years with Financial Times magazines, notably on Financial Adviser.
With over 30 years’ experience in the commercial & financial services sector, Sarah joined Blackfinch in 2014. She started her career in banking before joining the PR department at the UKs leading flight simulator company. After a period overseas, Sarah then spent 12 years working in London in property & media before focusing her career on business & relationship development. Sarah holds a Tax & Estate Planning Accreditation which includes a Certificate of Knowledge & Understanding in BR, EIS & VCTs and has also recently undertaken the PRI Academy’s Foundations in Responsible Investment course.
Dan is the managing partner of Boundary Capital. He is a serial entrepreneur; founder and CEO of several IT businesses as well as executive and non-executive position of other growing electronics, software and green tech businesses. Dan is passionate about sustainability and impact as well as technology, and leads the business development for Boundary as well as managing some of the investments. Formerly a strategy consultant with LEK Consulting. He holds an MA from Cambridge University in Natural Sciences and a Diploma in Business Studies. A keen skier and ex-rugby player, now fan. Dreaming of post-lockdown on the ski slopes and rugby terraces!
Lindsay brings over 15 years’ experience of ESG analysis in the financial sector having started her career at Flemings/ JP Morgan. She worked at Allianz Global Investors as Marketing Manager within the Institutional Business Development Team prior to moving to Citi Group to lead on Communications and sustainability initiatives for the Transaction Services division. Since 2011, Lindsay has held senior positions at leading institutions including ESG assessment data provider Video Eiris, and most recently ClearlySo, Europe´s leading impact investment bank where she was Head of Impact Research and Innovation. In her role, Lindsay led the development of the award-winning sustainability and impact assessment tool "ClearlySo ATLAS", designed for private equity investors.
Over the past 15 years, Lindsay has worked with investors and companies to maximise their sustainable impact. Lindsay has extensive experience developing internal sustainability strategies and communication plans, as well as providing training and workshops for business professionals to develop their understanding and approach to sustainability integration. Lindsay has advised UK and US companies and led the ‘green credential second opinion’ for the winning Green Bond bid for District of Columbia Water (the first 100-year certified green bond, brokered by Goldman Sachs).
In 2017, Lindsay was named by Brummel Magazine as one of the top 50 influential women in Sustainability. Since 2016, she has acted as an assessor for the Unilever Sustainable Living Young Entrepreneurs Award and was previously a member of the UKSIF analyst committee and judge for the City of London Sustainable Finance Awards.
Matthew is an experienced entrepreneur and has successfully exited 3 businesses in the technology space. He has a decade of investment experience in early stage companies in technology, e-commerce and green tech. Outside of OnePlanetCapital, Matt sits on the board of 2 high growth tech companies.
Jake joins Vala as an Investment Director in the Sustainability team and is responsible for investments in to the Sustainability Funds. He is the founder and former CEO of Goji, a fintech asset management platform. Jake led the company through a number of VC-led investment rounds from some of Europe’s largest fintech VCs including Axa and Anthemis.
