In these unprecedented times, the GrowthInvest Adviser Hour brings together a panel of industry experts to provide insight and opinion on the effect of the last 9 months on the investment landscape, including a look at the impact of Covid-19 on portfolio investee companies, sector specific "winners and losers", and a view from the panel as to the overall investment outlook over the next 6-12 months.

This will be discussed alongside key areas for advisers and their clients, such as Fee Transparency, Deployment timelines, Diversification & Risk and how advisers can introduce EIS to a wider section of their client base.

Lawrence Gosling is the host of the GrowthInvest Adviser Hour and the Editorial Director of Bonhill Group. He was previously the Group Editorial Director of Incisive Media and the founding editor of Investment Week.

Lawrence was also the launch editor of IFAonline, Mortgage Solutions, Cover and Bloomberg Money magazines, and one of the original judges for the Gold Standards. In 1994 he worked at Reuters, and prior to that he spent five years with Financial Times magazines, notably on Financial Adviser.

Andrew Noble

Andrew is a former management consultant with McKinsey & Co, specialising in sales optimisation for FTSE 100 clients, before rejoining Par Equity in May 2019. Andrew has broad experience across the early stage venture capital and private equity markets having personally invested in more than 30 innovative, high growth companies over the last 10 years as well as founding Transition Capital - a management buy-in vehicle focused on Scotland - in 2017, where he was managing director, leading the deal sourcing, due diligence, and fundraising efforts.  Andrew is a former athlete, having competed for TeamGB in Alpine Skiing at the 2010 Winter Olympics, and holds an MBA from INSEAD Business School.

David Foreman

Fred was responsible for a number of high profile, large scale innovation projects across one of the UK’s largest e-commerce businesses Kiddicare.com and post-acquisition, supermarket giant Morrisons. Fred created award-winning, digital customer experiences bridging the online-offline gap in one of the UK’s largest grocers, Morrisons. This included the launch of browse and order points, mobile payments and electronic shelf edge labels powered by early stage technology companies. To achieve this Fred worked with cutting edge early stage technology start-ups to integrate and piece together award-winning customer experiences. Co-founding Haatch in 2013, Fred runs the investment process end-to-end and works with portfolio businesses in advisory and board roles.

Mark Brownridge

Mark has over twenty five years’ experience in Financial services and prior to his current position as Director General of the Enterprise Investment Scheme Association (EISA), he was Head of Research and Development at Mazars, a leading UK financial planning firm. Mark is highly qualified being a Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Financial Planner, Chartered Wealth Manager and Fellow of the Personal Finance Society and previously sat on the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments Accredited firms committee and TISA’s Distribution Policy Council. Mark’s involvement with EIS began fifteen years ago and he has since championed EIS investing and is extremely passionate about promoting the industry, increasing its effectiveness and ensuring the private sector continues to drive much needed funding to small companies. His role at EISA means he is closely involved with Government policy design and implementation of EIS and SEIS legislation

Dr Paul Mattick

Dr Paul Mattick heads the Sales and Investor Relations team for the Mercia EIS Funds. He works directly with private clients and advisers to build the EIS fund raising capacity of Mercia. Paul oversees the administration and development of the EIS funds, and ensures that investors receive a high level of service, much of which is delivered through Mercia’s award-winning Investor Centre. Paul has a variety of experience in early-stage businesses (including being a founder), and formerly worked at another leading EIS fund manager, where he built close relationships with top tier clients, and significantly grew both fund and single company assets under management. Paul has a PhD and Post-Doctorate from the University of Oxford and a 1st Class Bachelor of Science from the University of Leeds. paul.mattick@mercia.co.uk
