Alistair cut his teeth two decades ago, working as “first employee” into a string of successful startups and UK HQs of internationally recognised firms. He later went on to set up his own consultancy helping founders scale and exit. Alistair eventually exited his own business and went on to hold board positions in international consulting firms.
More recently Alistair has moved from operator to investor through Nova where he acts as CMO and also Director of Nova Growth Capital, the investment arm of the Nova group.
Parminder worked in FMCG for 7 years before attending business school, subsequently founding VGC in 2011.
The first investments were made on a deal-by-deal basis, and these included Metropolis London, a music studio, production, publishing and agency business.
Subsequent investments included Round World Entertainment, the holding company of 10Ten Talent, the football and talent management business, Iconic Images, the owner of the photographic archive of Terry O’Neill and Super Awesome, the fast-growing kid tech business based in London.
In March 2019 the team achieved a final close of VGC Partners Fund I, backed by institutional investors, family offices and high net worth individuals, to focus on growth companies in the consumer and media sectors in the U.K.
Parminder attended Rutgers University in New Jersey and has a BA in Management Studies from the University of Leeds. He also holds an MBA from London Business School.
Tom leads investor relations and business development activities for the Hambro Perks Growth EIS Fund. He focuses on building relationships with Advisers and Wealth Managers throughout the UK, helping to provide venture capital solutions to their clients. Tom has worked in venture capital for nearly 10 years, and prior to this in consulting and wealth management. Tom holds a master’s in development finance, degree in economics, Investment Advice Diploma, IMC, EIS Diploma, and Certificate in ESG Investing. He is also undertaking an MSc in Environmental Economics & Climate Change and sits on Hambro Perks’ ESG committee.
Jake has over 10 years in corporate innovation and start-ups, including creating a £100m renewable energy fund for one of the UK's largest retailers. Jake also set up the RAIA programme and the Newable BBI Fund. Jake has an MBA from the Open University and lectures in entrepreneurial strategy at the University of Bath.
